Teeth Whitening

With age, the teeth become darker and stained. Tooth Whitening is the process of removing stains and discolouration from teeth and improving their colour through a bleaching process to make them look whiter. Whitening your teeth is a great way to enhance your smile and make you feel confident about the way you look. Nothing freshens up your appearance like a whiter, brighter smile.

At Bexhill Hair and Skin Cosmetic Clinic we use a premium home bleaching system, which incorporates one of the fastest whitening kits available to those who want immediate results with less wear time. In only 30 minutes twice a day for nine days, you can achieve the white smile you have always dreamt of. In addition, our all-inclusive price of £190 is one of the lowest in Sussex, Kent and London.

Furthermore, in order to provide continuity of care, a post-treatment regime is offered to ensure you have obtained the best results possible as well as one-to-one advice on achieving the much desired celebrity smile.

Bexhill Hair and Skin Cosmetic Clinic offers a free, no obligation consultation where one of our dentists will answer any questions you may have and will provide you with additional information tailored for your needs

What is Tooth Whitening?

Tooth whitening is a bleaching process that lightens discolouration and removes stains from the enamel and dentine of the teeth. The solution used at Bexhill Cosmetic Clinic is retained in a custom fitted appliance that is worn over your teeth for just 1 hour during the day

What causes tooth discolouration?

There are many causes. The most common include ageing, consumption of staining substances (coffee, teas, colas, tobacco), trauma, tetracycline (antibiotic) staining, excessive fluoride, and nerve degeneration.

Who may benefit from tooth whitening?

Almost anyone. However, there are some cases where the treatment may not be effective. Dr Chloe Pitchforth BDS will determine a viable candidate for the process through an oral examination and diagnosis. Tooth-lightening is ideal for patients who have healthy, unrestored teeth and would like to have a whiter, brighter smile

What does the procedure involve?

The solution used at Bexhill Cosmetic Clinic is a fast, safe and effective tooth whitening system. There are two appointments:

Appointment 1:

On your first visit, you will be required to fill in a Medical History form, and then Dr Chloe Pitchforth BDS will conduct an oral examination and determine if you are a viable candidate. If you are, then a mould (impression) will be taken of your teeth. These will then be sent to our specialist dental laboratory in order to make your custom fitted trays. This usually takes less than one week.

Appointment 2:

On the second appointment you will be supplied with the whitening gel syringes, informed of their correct use and given the clear, inconspicuous custom trays. Then all you need to do is wear the trays with the gel for just 30 minutes twice a day for just 1-2 weeks to achieve whiter teeth.

After 2 weeks of using the system, you have the option of attending for a third appointment if you want the dentist to examine the success of the treatment, but this is not compulsory.

Why can only a dentist get my teeth their whitest?

You can only get the premium home bleaching system from a dental professional. Prior to beginning treatment, your dentist will examine you to determine whether you have any untreated cavities, tooth decay or unhealthy teeth.

Can I bleach while I'm pregnant or lactating (breast feeding)?

To date, there has been no testing performed on the effects of using a professional toothwhitening system while pregnant or lactating. Therefore, we do not recommend that you use our whitening system if you are pregnant or lactating.

Is the process safe?

Yes! Research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth with hydrogen peroxide under the supervision of a dentist is safe for teeth and gums. In fact, many dentists consider this whitening process the safest cosmetic procedure available today.

Why aren't my teeth whitening evenly?

Sometimes the biting edges and the sides of the teeth whiten more quickly than the rest of teeth. This occurs because your enamel is thinner in these areas and responds faster to the whitening process. As you continue to use the whitening system the rest of your teeth will catch up and the colour will even out.

What is the difference between your whitening kit and other products?

We use one of the fastest whitening kits available to those who want immediate results with less wear time - you do not need to wear the trays over night, like with other products! Additionally, our product incorporates Amorphous Calcium Phosphate technology, which naturally bonds with the tooth surface to increase overall enamel smoothness and gloss, and reduces whitening fade-back. Its rapid absorption into the teeth also functions to reduce transient sensitivity - quite different from typical bleaching solutions.
